This TB-500 product contains synthetic thymosin beta-4, a peptide composed of 43 amino acids. Thymosin beta-4 is also found naturally in the body and is associated with processes involving cell structure and movement. Here, TB-500 refers to the full-length peptide rather than a shorter fragment.

How it works

Thymosin beta-4 interacts with actin, a protein involved in cell structure and movement. This provides the biological background to studies of migrating cells and the organisation of repairing tissue.

What studies have examined

A study by Malinda and colleagues examined full-length thymosin beta-4 in rat skin wounds and cell experiments. It reported changes in wound closure, collagen deposition, blood-vessel formation and cell migration.

How to interpret the findings

The cited publication examines thymosin beta-4 in experimental models; it is not a clinical evaluation of this finished pen.
